Grounded in empathy, equity, intersectionality, and a bias to action, I help leaders build the organizations, programs and initiatives of their dreams. A life-long social-justice advocate with over 20 years of professional liberatory-focused leadership experience, I specialize in organizational strategy, program management, and helping remote and hybrid organizations increase efficiency while minimizing burnout.
My first job out of college was for a feminist, social-justice based nonprofit. My first day, I went in eager to support communities in need, and left at 11pm, hungry, tired, and wondering why the meetings I’d attended had gone nowhere.
That was the day I knew I’d figure out how to do things differently.
For over 20 years, I’ve worked for mission-driven organizations with a commitment to efficacy and equity. I worked as an Executive Assistant for a small lobbying group in Washington, DC., and later for a southeastern Planned Parenthood. I spent several years delivering services and overseeing staff at a reproductive healthcare provider group, and have been a leader at national nonprofits organizations like Abortion Care Network and Family Equality. With degrees in Women/Gender Studies and Sociology, I have taught, researched and published in universities and academic journals.
I have supported large and small teams with developing and delivering programming and services for marginalized communities, and built strategic plans, restructured and rebuilt work teams, and supported the growth of a national nonprofit from the ground up. I’ve made sure that my staff never worked a late night or attended a meeting without a defined purpose (required events, etc). In all my years of justice- and mission- driven work, my strength and passion has always been taking care of the teams, and making sure the internal functions are sound and seamless.
I’m a queer parent of twins living in the South with my handsome spouse in a community I love and am working hard to protect. Most days, I wish I’d been a musician, but I assure you that my talents will be better spent in our work together!
